Botox and fillers help patients hold on to and restore youthful beauty and appearance.

How Botox and Fillers Treat Wrinkles, Facial Volume Loss, and More

As we age, our skin loses elasticity, and every expression we make adds to wrinkles and lines in our face. It’s all part of the aging process, but we still want to hold onto our youthful appearance! Thankfully, Botox and fillers can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

These facial rejuvenation treatments also help create smoother, youthful skin. If you’re tired of looking tired and want natural-looking results that help you diminish the signs of aging, then Botox and fillers are an excellent starting point.

With that in mind, they’re still two very different products, with different focuses and approaches. Understanding the benefits of both will help you make an informed decision about your treatment, and help you get the results you want.

Botox Reduces Wrinkles and Treats Other Conditions

Botox is a purified natural protein (using botulinum toxin type A) that reduces the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles by relaxing the facial muscles. It is injected directly into the muscles that cause wrinkles, blocking the transmission of neurons. This causes the targeted muscle to relax.

In turn, this softens the dynamic wrinkles caused by facial expressions, such as frown lines and crow’s feet. Treatment results will typically last six months or more. Botox is also a frequent treatment for other medical conditions, such as hyperhidrosis and temporomandibular joint disorder.

Dysport is another injectable treatment for wrinkles that uses botulinum toxin type A. Dysport is an alternative treatment to Botox with results that can last longer than Botox, in some cases.

Fillers Restore Volume and Diminish Lines

Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid (HA) (which is naturally produced by our bodies) to restore volume. HA is responsible for supporting our skin with natural collagen and elastin. As we age, HA levels decrease, making our skin more prone to wrinkles, lines, and volume loss.

Dermal fillers treat wrinkles, lips, and facial volume. A tiny needle is inserted into the treatment area to inject HA. Fillers normally last 18 months, but can last up to 24 months. And since HA slowly diminishes from the treatment area, there are no drastic changes in appearance. Dermal filler treatment is also reversible.

Depending on your desired treatment results, a professional cosmetic clinic can help you decide which treatments are best for you. Whether you want to treat wrinkles, lines, or increase your lip or facial volume and structure, these are natural and easy treatments to give your face a bright, rejuvenated look and feel that will last for months. With Botox and fillers, you can say goodbye to looking tired and look refreshed instead.
