Exfoliate Your Skin
As we age, the epidermis (the skin’s outermost layer) thickens and becomes more pronounced as dead skin cells accumulate. Medical-grade microdermabrasion exfoliates and removes that dead layer of skin without the need for surgery or anesthetic and stimulates the production of new skin cells and collagen. The result is beautiful rejuvenated skin! Treatments are performed at our Ottawa clinic and take between 30 to 45 minutes to complete.
How does it work?
Microdermabrasion uses a fine diamond-tipped applicator to gently remove parts of the top keratin layer of skin. The diamond tip is able to gently sand down the keratin and trigger the epidermal and dermal cells’ natural healing response. This stimulates new cell growth and restores that smooth and glowing look.
Microdermabrasion treatment can help treat:
- Small acne scars
- Fine lines
- Dull Skin
This is a zero-downtime procedure, meaning you can get back to your normal routine immediately after treatment with minimal side effects. Patients see results after a single treatment, but we have found that a series of two to four treatments administered one to two weeks apart give the best results.
When combined with Laser Genesis treatments, the results improve substantially. This allows the exfoliation of Microdermabrasion to work in tandem with the healing effects of Laser Genesis treatments.
In addition, we encourage our patients to use cosmeceutical skin care products as part of their treatment. Our skilled technicians can recommend which skin care products would best benefit you.
Following treatment, it’s important to monitor and maintain your skin to achieve optimal results. While this is a zero-downtime procedure, it’s not uncommon for some patients to experience minor discomfort, similar to a mild sunburn, in the treated area. This is normal, and the effects will last a short time. We recommend using a high-quality sunscreen for relief and added protection.
We can recommend post-treatment products for our clients, such as:
- An anti-aging redness mask;
- Rehydrating toner; and
- Moisturizer and sunscreen to protect the skin
